Hosted by friends of Socrates in the City, we are delighted to invite you to the inaugural gathering of the Austin/Waco Socrates Book Club.
We will be reading C.S. Lewis’ classic novel The Great Divorce, first published in 1945, and based on a theological dream vision of his in which he embarks on an adventure between Heaven and Hell.
We will be meeting on June 23rd at 6pm at Solas Gallery in Salado, TX (in between Austin and Waco). Club members will receive a copy of the book at the event. Together we’ll read aloud excerpts and share the kind of conversations Socrates in the City is known for: asking life’s biggest questions with humor and even, perhaps, a bit of fun. All we ask is that you show up!
After the main discussion, stick around for a reception hour with lite bites and refreshments, and time to connect. Our vision for this community is to gather together with a group of thoughtful, like-minded people and wrestle with the deeper questions of life, God, history, and other “small topics.”
We hope you’ll join us as we launch this new chapter of the Socrates Book Club in the Austin/Waco area!
