He has published ten books over the past quarter century, including non‑fiction works such as One No, Many Yeses (2003) and Real England (2008), poetry collections like Kidland and Songs from the Blue River, and novels including The Wake, Beast, Alexandria, and his “Buckmaster Trilogy.” Against the Machine his newest book.

Kingsnorth describes himself as an animist in an age of machines, critical of techno‑industrial society and its impact on culture, land, and spirit. Over time he has explored many spiritual paths—as a former practitioner of Zen, Daoism, mythology, and more—and in 2020 underwent a profound turn toward Christianity, culminating in his baptism into the Eastern Orthodox Church in 2021.
