“If not for ‘The Silver Chair’ and ‘The Last Battle,’ I’d be sure this was my favorite of all the Narnia books. A vast sea of lilies stretching to the horizon… invisible hopping monopods... This book is a golden treasury of unforgettable images, and the passage of noble Reepicheep rowing his coracle over the frozen wave into Aslan’s world is profound and poignant and sublime.”
